The majority of property sales were semi-detached homes that fetched an average of just over £412,000. Terraced houses sold for an average of £331,000, with detached houses fetched over £588,000. Overall prices had grown by three per cent from 2020 and seven per cent from 2019. The most expensive places to live in Chelmsford are Old Lodge Court, a luxury private and gated development, Margaretting Road, Patching Hall Lane, Pottery Lane, and The Cedars.
